Wednesdays

Our main training session is on Wednesday evenings throughout the year.

We meet at the top carpark of the Rolls-Royce Sports and Welfare Club, situated opposite Moorways Swimming Pool on Moor Lane, Derby. (DE24 9HY for Sat-Nav users)

We usually arrive at about 6:45 pm ready to start runing at 7:00 pm, although a group running faster/further often leaves earlier at 6:30pm.

We run in groups of various abilities, from a steady pace covering just a few miles, to a swift sub 7-minute pace covering 10 or more miles.

About once a month, one of our more experienced members orgainises a specific training session. This session can be hills, speed-work, Fartlek / intervals etc. and is usually a very hard workout, but very rewarding.

After the training session, changing rooms and hot showers are available at the Rolls-Royce Gymnasium.

We then meet up in the Rolls-Royce Welfare Club bar for rehydration and carb-loading (a pint and chips). Here we discuss training tactics, the next race, or just have a social chit-chat.

Training, weekend long runsWeekends

In the few months prior to a marathon, several club members meet up for the "Long-Run", which usually varies between 10 and 20 miles. This is an unofficial meet starting at a variety of different locations, usually arranged on ad-hoc basis on a Wednesday evening in the bar.
