Skittles Evening - Saturday 16th May

Steve Crawley shows how its done!

A big thanks to Ian Harlow for organising a skittles evening at the Nunsfield House on Boulton Lane.

Sinfin lined up against the Nunsfield House "home" team, with Dave and Yvette Lander swapping to the opposition-side to even out numbers.

Sinfin struggled getting to grips with the game, and much frustration was vented in missing that front pin! (Rule#1 - none of the skittles count until the front-pin falls). Numerous "zeros", and several "no-balls" were marked up. Sinfin finished the first game about 50points behind the home team, and vowed to do better. The game adjourned for a great buffet, swilled down with some fine beer.

The second game was a much closer affair, with Sinfin taking the lead helped by some consistent scoring from John Sheil and Steve Crawley (amongst others), only to be pipped in the last few balls by our very own Dave Lander (back-stabber!), to finish just a few points behind (92 vs. 98).

Everybody seemed to really enjoy the evening, and we're looking forward to another social night sometime soon.

Elvaston Castle - 13th May

With the imminent arrival of the "Classic 10k" club race
(7th June), the usual Wednesday training session was moved to Elvaston Country Park.

Everyone met at "The Harrington Arms" at Thulston, and we all had a very pleasant run around the park. We all got familiar with the 10k course, and Mick & Chris assigned marshalls to the various positions.

Afterwards, we met back in the Harrington Arms for the usual social drink and some food. Beer and food was very good.

Everyone enjoyed meeting somewhere different for a change, and the consensus is to do something similar again, perhaps Shipley Park, Allestree Park or Darley Abbey. Watch this space!

Well done to everyone who did the inaugural May Day challenge. The weather was a little drizzly, but It was a really pleasant multi-terrain course.

Food/refreshments were supplied at various places around the course, and at the finish was a veritable feast! Definitely one for next year's calendar.
